I went out for a drive around Reykjanes. Got up a bit late, but couldn't let the day go completely to waste. I had planned on hiking up Sýrfell, but I thought it was in a different place, and ended up driving past it :)
Stil, I had a great day driving leisurely around Reykjanes, poking myself down just about every side road on the entire day. Old munitions sheds near the base, power plants, the "bridge between two continents", the lighthouse, some geothermal areas, all sorts of little bits and pieces.
Even climbed up a mountain, Festarfjall, by the seaside near Grindavík. Not a lot to recomment it really, but it was short and steep. A nice view over the sea, but a bit short and a bit crumbly to really call classic.
More driving, more driving, more watching the light change, and read little signs all over the place, and eventually I was home again. A worthwhile excursion for the day.
