June 17 is Iceland's Independence Day, so there's all sorts of events all over town. It's also early summer, so people are energetic to get out and enjoy the sun and the green green grass. It's not as good as Menningarnótt, but it's still a pretty fun day. It normally ends with a big concert downtown, although normally the night before is a bigger party night.
