New house on Tryggvagata

Pictures are at the bottom...

I have moved again! After a wonderful two months living in the old fashioned grandma appartment on Fellsmuli, the owner was returning for the christmas, and I had to move out. I'll miss it. It was quirky, unique, well situated, and to top it off, big and cheap.

So I looked a lot of places, poring over the newspaper everymorning. (You've got to move fast in the rental market here) Looked a lot of really small trashy places. Cheap, but trashy. I had more money than that, but I wasn't finding what I wanted. I even looked at buying a place. (There's room for a lengthy story here about the dynamics of the rental and homeowners markets here in Iceland, but that might be for another day)

Then I found this place. Far and away the best place I saw. A huge three story place, big room, a bunch of icelanders living there to practise speaking with, and a whole lot more character. Sure, the floor tilts a bit, and there's no loungeroom, but still, much more fun.

And it's on Tryggvagata, which means if I try hard, I can throw a rock into the harbour from here. And of course, walking distance to all of downtown. (yes, despite not really wanting to, I now live in one of the more cliched postcodes in the world, 101 Reykjavík)

Here's a few pictures of the interior. I'll try and get some pictures of the outside in the next couple of days.
